India and Pakistan have been through a history of partition, war and conflicts. In a recent act of resolving the issues of the past, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asked for American intervention for peace in the LOC.
The administrative official told the Indian reporters that, “President Obama and his interlocutors discussed with PM Sharif and his situation in the LOC. Pakistan has often made a request for the United States to be engaged in it.“
U.S President Barack Obama affirmed that they will commit to intervene only if both the countries request its engagement. “This has been a reiteration of the continued policy of United states for both countries to work out these issues bilaterally and of course we and the other countries would be willing to provide facilitating and other supporting role if India and Pakistan together ask for,” the official added.
During a meeting with John Kerry, Secretary of state, Sharif handed over certain documents regarding the concerns of security in Pakistan. This information was revealed by an official who requested for anonymity.
The best way to reconcile is to have a face to face conversation between the neighbours. The United states official added, “It is for India and Pakistan to work out. It is not the policy of the US to try to influence or try to set terms or otherwise even make recommendations for how that dialogue should take place.“
The documents received by the officials regarding security issues in Pakistan has not been reviewed yet. Hence, they do not have any comments on the content as if now. The United States hope to see India and Pakistan normalize relations to move towards peace in the region and prosperity for their country.
The official also added that “There is not a tilt towards any country“. US has always aimed for global interests and inculcates stability in the world.
