An update is being rolled out by Google to Google Maps application with some awesome features. This update application is bumped to version 9.16 which has main focus on navigation. Apart from new destinations as well as quick stops on the route, side-tracking can also be done during a trip to shopping marts, cafes, restaurants and gas stations.
When a person is in navigation mode, particular destinations can be searched or chosen. If you tap on the 3 dot overflow button which is placed at the bottom, 4 options would be seen namely coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations. After that, tap the search along route. You can also use this feature by tapping search button which lies on the Google Maps’ top right corner.
It is definitely worth mentioning that the microphone icon has been replaced by the search button. However, if the search button is tapped, there is an option of search for more places along 4 other options. The regular search screen is fired by this button. While typing on it, one can get to see the results in the overview map along the names and also the time that would be taken. Furthermore, if the option of gas station is chosen, current prices can be viewed in callout boxes. There is no availability of price details for all stations, says Android Police.
There is inclusion of pinch-to-zoom gestures as well as panning so that more or less options can be viewed. When you select the quick stop, there is an option of removing it. On the top right, the search button will give an option of removing it or making a new one. Appearance of quick stops is seen in written directions. However, as of now, you can choose only 1 stop. It might take time for OTA update to reach all regions.
