Warne’s warriors won the first T20 match of the All Stars series by 6 wickets in New York. It was a great match as the fans were able to see their favourite cricket player again on the ground. The stadium was reverberated completely with the shouts of ‘Sachin, Sachin’.
Sachin’s Blasters were asked to bat first. Sehwag and Sachin opened for the Blasters. Sehwag played some fantastic shots and scored a half century from just 22balls. Tendulkar also played a good innings but Shane Warne took his wicket with an amazing delivery. The rest of the batsman in the Sachin’s Blasters didn’t play well and was only able to set a target of 141runs. Shane Warne snared three wickets, including that of Tendulkar and the legendary Brian Lara.
In reply to Blasters batting, Ricky Ponting and Sangakkara steered the Warriors for their first victory in All star series.
“The whole idea of Cricket All Stars is that, to try to get as many nations together to celebrate this. It was electrifying,” Tendulkar said.
“I thought it was fantastic, the atmosphere was amazing,” said Warne after the match. The music, crowd and atmosphere – it was nothing not to like. How could you not enjoy that experience today? It was fantastic,” added Warne.
“We wanted to be competitive. There was some skillful batting and bowling and fielding out there. But we know they will come back hard in Houston. A lot of the guys have trained hard, they are proud people, they don’t want to be embarrassed and they were not today,” he said
Next match will be on November 11th in Houston.
