World No.2 badminton player Saina Nehwal beats Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara and advances to semifinal of China Open at the Haixia Olympic Sports Center.
Saina took just 42minutes to defeat the Japanese World no.10 in straight sets 21-16, 21-13. Overall, the 25-year-old Saina took home 42 of 71 points played in the match. Saina was on top of the game from the beginning. The players went neck and neck till 6-6, but after that Saina broke away, built small leads and finally won in 21 minutes.
The second game was rather one-sided with Saina building a six-point lead (9-3) and never looking back. At 18-10, it was smooth sailing for Saina and she closed the match in 42 minutes.
In the semifinal Saina Nehwal will meet former World Champion Yihan Wang of China. Wang defeated fourth seed Tai Tzu Ying 21-18, 21-17 in the quarterfinal of China Open.
